Edith was such an amazing lady with a huge heart. She always had a comforting word and a contagious smile. She was there for me during a tough time in my life and I will forever be grateful. Thoughts and prayers to the family, you were truly blessed with an awesome mother.

Edith's Obituary

Our Family Icon with a heart-warming smile, Edith Mae (Maloney) Wyrick, 86, of Franklin went

home to Jesus on Friday morning, March 29, 2019 in Franklin. She was a longtime resident of

Franklin.

She was born on May 15, 1932 in Berea, Kentucky to George Maloney and Hazel Marie

(Isaacs) Stewart. She married Herman Wyrick, on October 15, 1949 in Butler, Ohio. Surviving

children are; Mike (Paula) Wyrick of Franklin; Steve (Lois) Wyrick of Greenwood; Jeff (Sheila)

Wyrick of Greenwood; Cathy Schultz of Shelbyville; Cheryl Wyrick of Utah and Mark (Tina)

Wyrick of Franklin; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren with another on the

way, and three great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Lou Bolton of

Kentucky and Juanita Tiller of Ohio, and one brother Tommy Stewart of Ohio. She was

preceded in passing by her parents; husband, Herman; twin sister, Edna Maloney; brothers

Edward Maloney, Charlie Maloney, Sherman Stewart, Donnie Stewart, and Stanley Stewart;

sister, Charlotte Stewart; and son-in-law, Butch Schultz.

Edith was a stay-at-home mom until her youngest began school, then she began working at

Johnson Memorial Hospital in the maternity ward; She loved rocking and singing to the babies.

Edith then began working for the Franklin Community School Corporation at Northwood

Elementary in the cafeteria. She retired from Northwood after 10+ years of service and

continued to work part-time for many years. She speed walked over 5 miles a day throughout

Franklin, waving and making lasting friends.

God, Family, Church and Volunteering were the four guiding principles of her life. Edith was a

member of the Temple Baptist Church for 50+ years, where her husband Herman was a

deacon. Edith was a member of the choir, Vacation Bible School teacher, and always

participated in the yearly Cantata. Her Bible-based wisdom set an example to all whose lives

she touched that "God was the answer". She attended all family member's games and

activities, and was the loudest voice as she cheered them on. Edith volunteered many years at

the Methodist Homes (Otterbein) calling out Bingo numbers for the Alzheimer's patients. She

also volunteered two days a week at the Interchurch of Johnson County Food Pantry up until

three weeks ago. Edith also was a member of the Franklin Chapter Order of Eastern Star No.

439, and received her 30+ year Pin celebration.

A celebration of Edith’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 2 at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home,

2898 North Morton Street (US 31 N) in Franklin. Calling hours from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the

funeral home. Service and burial will follow. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin

being laid to rest by her husband Herman.
