SSG Baidy Thomas Graham

Baidy Thomas Graham, affectionately known as BT, was born on December 18, 1946, to the late Elder and Elmira Baidy Graham and was the beloved brother of Velma, Cornelius, Cornic, Raymond Sr., Mary, Daisy, Reva, and Veria, all of whom preceded him in death.

BT was born in Learned, MS, and accepted Christ at an early age, becoming a devoted member of Welcome MB Church. After relocating to Jackson, MS, with his family, he graduated from Brinkley Jr./Sr. He graduated from High School in 1964, where he excelled as a track star, holding numerous records in track and field.

In 1967, BT enlisted in the Armed Forces, serving bravely in the Vietnam War. He held distinguished positions, including Commo Chief in Germany and Personnel Sergeant with the 40th Ordnance Group. Additionally, he served as a Chaplain Assistant for over 25 years, skillfully relating to soldiers of all backgrounds. His dedication and service were recognized with numerous honors, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Purple Heart, and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm.

BT leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his devoted wife of 55 years, Leola L. Rand, and their seven children: Queen Sandra, Reggie, Thelma, Jeffrey, Daisy, Dana (LaCarya), and Derek. He is also survived by his sister, Susie E. Graham, grandchildren Eddie, James, Reginald Sr., LaDe’ja, Derek Jr., Baylon, Leona, and Madison (who preceded him in death), and great-grandchildren Zion, Ava, Reginald Jr., and LaDezmon Graham. Additionally, he held a special place in the hearts of Renita Yhonquea, Anthony Crump, and William Samuel.

BT will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his kindness, service, and the love he so generously shared.
