Baldemar's Obituary

Baldemar Edward Butanda, 42, the cherished and devoted step-son of Nicanor Castillo Jr., entered into eternal rest on December 3, 2025, where he is now reunited with him in peace. Born in Houston, Texas on October 3, 1983, Baldemar touched every life he encountered with his warmth, his humor, and the deep love he held for his family.

Baldemar leaves behind a legacy built on love—one that will forever live on through the person who held his heart, Lola Watkins. His world was made brighter by his children: Lissette Bina, Ryan Watkins (Carol-lynn), Nadine Watkins, Monica Watkins, Michelle Watkins, and Robert Watkins, each one carrying a piece of Baldemar’s gentle spirit and strength. His five grandchildren, whom he adored beyond measure, will grow up surrounded by the love and stories that keep his memory alive.

He is profoundly loved and remembered by his mother, Lorenza Castillo, whose heart and guidance shaped the man he became. His siblings—Sheila Butanda, Sonya Nuno (Angel), Suzanne Butanda, John Paul Butanda (Ashley), Maria Castillo, Nicanor Castillo III (Ericka), and Dean Castillo (Sara)—mourn him deeply, holding tight to the countless memories of laughter, togetherness, and shared milestones. Baldemar’s love continues on through 20 nieces and nephews, as well as one great-niece and two great-nephews, his aunt Patricia Mota all of whom he embraced with the same warmth he offered to everyone he loved.

For over 35 years, Rogelio and Michelle Martinez walked beside Baldemar and his family—not as friends, but as family in heart. The family extends their deepest and most heartfelt gratitude for their unwavering love, support, and devotion. Their presence has been a blessing that words cannot fully capture.

Baldemar’s kindness, loyalty, and radiant spirit leave an irreplaceable void. His memory will forever echo in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him, love him, and be loved by him.

Services have been entrusted to South Houston Funeral Home and on December 23, 2025 the family will welcome visitors from 12pm-4pm. At the conclussion of services Bnaldemar's final wishes will be honored.
