Barbara A. Alvarez, 88, of Ontario, CA, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, with her family by her side at Kaiser Hospital in Fontana.
Born on February 20, 1937, in Los Angeles, CA, she was the beloved daughter of the late Harry and Anna (Bukroff) Jioras and one of four siblings. She graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School in Los Angeles, where she was active in the G.A.A. program and served as an officer.
On April 15, 1955, she married the love of her life, the late Richard D. Alvarez, and together they raised four children. Barbara dedicated many years as an administrative assistant at Slide Co before retiring.
Her love for nature was evident in the beauty she cultivated in her own yard, where roses and irises thrived under her attentive care. She found joy in nurturing both her garden and the people she cherished.
Barbara was deeply devoted to her faith, spending each day studying the Bible and drawing strength from the Lord. Her spirit served as a source of comfort and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Barbara was a woman of unwavering faith, boundless love, and extraordinary kindness. Barbara dedicated her life to serving others, embodying the selflessness and compassion of a true caregiver. As a devoted wife, mother, and friend, she offered endless support, wisdom, and warmth to all who knew her. Though she is no longer physically present, her spirit lives in the hearts of those she touched and the love she so generously shared.
She is survived by her children, Michelle Waite (Mark), Anthony Alvarez (the late Beth Alvarez), and Victoria Welte (James), who carry forward the love and values she instilled in them. She also leaves behind her siblings, Harry Jioras Jr. (Evelyn) and Richard Jioras (Nancy), as well as five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by her beloved husband, Richard Sr.; her son, Richard Jr.; her mother, Anna Jioras; her father, Harry Jioras; her stepmother, Kay Jioras; her sister, Dorothy Avery, her niece Brenda Avery, and her grandson, Bryan McGowan.
She will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of faith, love, and compassion will remain forever in the hearts of those she touched.
In the care of McKay’s Mortuary of Riverside, CA. Graveside services will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale on April 15, 2025 at 12PM noon.
