Barbara Ann Foley, age 72, of Monroeville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2026.
Barbara was born September 24, 1953, in Florala, Alabama, the daughter of Robert Steele and Quinna Pickron Steele. She lived a life centered on faith, family, and the simple joys that brought her peace and happiness.
Barbara found beauty in the quiet moments of life. She loved sitting by her window watching the hummingbirds that gathered outside her home, sometimes for an hour or more, simply enjoying the wonder of God’s creation. Those peaceful moments brought her great joy.
She was also known as an excellent cook who loved preparing meals for those she loved. Whenever family came by to visit, Barbara made sure there was something special waiting for them. One of her most requested favorites was her salmon patties, a meal that quickly became a cherished family tradition.
Barbara enjoyed listening to Christian music and loved attending gospel concerts whenever she could. She especially enjoyed the music of The Hoppers, whose songs brought her great encouragement and joy. She also loved shopping, particularly when it came to finding something special for her grandchildren.
Barbara was a faithful member of Excel Assembly of God Church, where she enjoyed attending Sunday services and worshiping alongside her church family.
More than anything, Barbara was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a proud Nana to her grandchildren. Her grandchildren remember nights spent at Nana’s house when they would hear her quietly praying. She faithfully lifted her family up to the Lord in prayer, a reflection of the deep faith that shaped her life.
Barbara loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with all her heart. Her faith was deeply rooted and unwavering. Christ truly was the rock of her salvation, the foundation upon which she built her life, and the source of the strength and peace she carried each day.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Steele and Quinna Pickren Steele; her brothers, Robert Steele and Joe Steele; and her sisters, Becky Lord, Robbie Gustafson, Shirley Steele, and Quinnel Steele.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Foley; her sons, Mark Stokes, Travis Stokes, and Brian Foley and wife Nicole; her daughter, Tammy Knight and husband Jerry; and her cherished grandchildren, Jessa Stokes, Kaylee Knight, Katelin Morris and husband David, and Mikayla Womble, along with many other family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
Funeral services for Barbara Ann Foley will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Evans Funeral Home, with Alan Robbins officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Barbara will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her faithful prayers, the love she poured into her family, and the quiet strength of a life firmly anchored in Christ.
