Barbara Jean Lewis, 78, of Cedar Rapids, crossed into eternal heaven, joining her beloved husband, Joseph on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Graveside service: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Roger’s Grove Cemetery, Ely, Iowa. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Barbara is survived by her children, Leo Lewis, Rose (Bill) Ware, and Susan Lewis; her sister, Theresa (Don) Lower; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; brothers, Michael, Wendel Jr., John, and David; and her sister, Mary.
Barbara was born on February 16, 1947, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Wendel Warner and Patricia (Gibson) Warner. She attended Iowa City High School, Webster City Community College and Kirkwood Community College. Barbara married Joseph Lewis on April 17, 1964, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Iowa City.
Barbara worked for many years as a cook with the Cedar Rapids School system. She enjoyed traveling, tending to her flowers, cross stitching, and spending time outdoors watching wildlife, especially hummingbirds.
