Barbara (White) Sengstaken

Barbara (White) Sengstaken of Bradenton, Florida, passed away on December 12, 2018, at the age of 95.  Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, in 1923, she was the daughter of the late Mildred (Bidwell) White and Harold White. She was also the sister of the late Elizabeth Marshall.  Known as “Bobby” to her family and friends, she was the wife of the late Donald Sengstaken and is survived by her children, Nancy Wright and her husband, Dan of Medfield, Massachusetts, Shelley Dolan and her husband, Bob of Davie, Florida, and Bruce Sengstaken and his wife, Barbara of Lakewood Ranch, Florida. She is also survived by her four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She attended Lasell Junior College in Newton, Massachusetts and worked in the executive offices of the New York Central Railroad until she married.  Throughout her life, she and her husband moved many times, raising their family in Birmingham, Michigan, Huntington, New York, and Smoke Rise, New Jersey before moving to Clearwater, Florida and Needham, Massachusetts.  Among her many passions were tennis, painting, decorating her homes and most recently she was an avid fan of HGTV.  She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and a beautiful sense of style.
