Bea Nelson

Lanoir Bea Nelson, age 95, of Ferguson, KY, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland surrounded by her family.

Bea was born on March 24, 1930 in Pulaski County to the late Jeremiah Calhoun and Haley Burton Calhoun.  She attended the old Cotter Avenue Church of God for many years.  She enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family.  

She is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Danny) Pitman of Ferguson, Charlotte Elliott of Somerset and Wanda Wilson (Charles) of Somerset; one son, Robert Ray Nelson of Burnside; one sister, Maxine Auterson of Norwood, OH; thirteen grandchildren; Dawn (Michael) Correll, Malissa (Travis) Thacker, Sherrye Lemmon, Michele (Justin) Sexton, Rhonda (Larry) Blevins, Karen (Kenny) Burton, David (Keli) Nelson, Doug (Anne) Nelson, Jill (Jeff) Vanhook, Michael (Sheila) Wilson, Debbie Wilson, Scottie (Debbie) “Tex” Nelson, Kim (Chris) Hollis;  28 great grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren, special nephew, Mike (Diane) Auterson; special daughter in law, Vivian Zeh;  extended family members, relatives and friends who are saddened by her passing.

Along with her parents, Jeremiah and Haley Calhoun, Bea was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Nelson, whom she married on September 2, 1947; one son, Ralph Nelson; two daughters, Shirley Mae Keller and Betty Shortnacy;  three brothers, Lawrence Calhoun,  Guy Calhoun and Arthur Calhoun; one sister, Evelyn Calhoun; grandson, James Elliott; a special nephew, Greg Auterson; and a special son in law, Albert Elliott.  

Visitation will be on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, 1046 West Hwy 80, Somerset, KY  42503.  Her funeral service will follow Friday, December 12, 2025 at 1:00pm at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Dunbar officiating.  Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.   Pallbearers will be Colton Correll, Camden Correll, Joseph Thacker, Colby Thacker, Douglas Nelson and David Nelson.  Honorary pallbearers will be Madison Lemmon and Samuel Thacker.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland in memory of Lanoir Bea Nelson.  Checks can be made payable to Hospice and mailed c/o Lake Cumberland Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1441, Somerset, KY  42502.
