I have fond memories of my "Aunt Bea" and wish I could share them with her --- it would make her laugh. But a picnic with the cousins (you guys) in a Philadelphia park, (Pennypack Park?), in the sizzling Summertime, and your Mom handing out the too-warm sandwiches cuddled in their wax-paper coverings...it was...

Mrs. Oerth's greatest legacy is the wonderful family she raised. Three generations of descendents have been graced with her presence in their lives. And I have been blessed with a 35-year-long friendship with her "baby," Donna Lee.
My prayers are with the Oerth family as you celebrate the passing of a dear woman who dedicated her life to being his servant to the people of God.

Beulah "Bea" Kirk Oerth entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 15th, 2011. She was a resident of Windsor Park Manor, Carol Stream, IL.Mrs. Oerth was born January 28, 1920, and was raised in Quarryville, PA and graduated from East Drumore High School in 1937. She attended Philadelphia College of the Bible, where she put herself through school by nannying and cleaning house in exchange for room and board. She met the love of her life at age 16. The late Rev. Dr. Franz Edward Oerth, was her older brother's roommate at Wheaton College in Illinois. "Edward" always said it was "love at first sight!" They courted for five years and married Sept. 4, 1941. She was a devoted Baptist pastor's wife for nearly 60 years, serving seven churches in Kansas, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Iowa, Indiana and Massachusetts. An accomplished seamstress, she often sent expertly tailored and perfectly fitting garments to her daughters in college! Even more notable was her gift of hospitality, entertaining people from all over the world, filling up numerous guest books. Over the years she assumed the duties of teaching Sunday school, Bible Studies, and various leadership roles in Women's Ministry and denomination events. Although never compensated for her various responsibilities, she treated them as a calling, and was an exceptional and exemplary partner to her husband and in their ministry together. She accompanied her husband, a frequent teacher and lecturer, on over 30 study tours and pilgrimages to Israel and other countries of the Middle East and Europe; and became an experienced traveler, combining their love of history and the Bible.Bea Oerth is survived by sister Velma Hartman of Bensalem, Pennsylvania, her son Douglas (Candace) Oerth of Moore, South Carolina and daughters Deborah (Ted) Rodgers and Donna Lee (Cliff) Johnson both of Wheaton; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.A private burial will be held at Wheaton Cemetery followed by a memorial service planned for Monday, June 20, 2011 at Windsor Park Manor, at 11:00am.Memorials may be directed to: Eikon Community Church8739 E.
