Ben was born on May 13, 1983 in Nashville, Tennessee to the parents of Ben Hughes Murray and Deborah F. Murray-Sherfield.Ben received his primary and secondary education in Metro Nashville Public School System. He graduated from Glencliff High School in 2001.Ben professed his love for Christ under the leadership of Elder James Gilbert, where he united with Mt. View Missionary Baptist Church.Ben loved all of his children and he was their hero. Ben was a very active parent and well known at his kid’s schools. Ben loved playing all types of sports especially skating and basketball with his children. He loved people, made friends everywhere he went and he never met a stranger.Lil Ben is preceded in death by his grandparents Dorothy Lee, Ben Hughes Jr. and Jennie Mai Wallace; aunts Linda (Pinky) Nevils, Mattie Lisha Williams; uncle, Sam “Bubba” Murray; and best friend Demetrius (MeMe) PeoplesLil Ben will be deeply missed. He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Amya Murray of Norfolk, Virginia, Keniya Murray, Ben Murray and Jaylen Murray of Nashville, Tennessee; his father, Ben Hughes Murray and devoted loving mother, Deborah F. Sherfield, step-father Reginald Sherfield; sisters Sheronda Lee, Jennifer Murray, Tia Crawford, LaTashure Curll and Caney Sherfield of Charlotte, North Carolina; brother Darius (Mishonta) Gentry; grandfather, William Wallace; aunts, Bridgette Lee and Tammy Burns; uncles, Hudson Menifee, Greg Ladd and Michael Lee; godchildren, Eriyana, Elayah and Jaden; special friends, Tanisha McGhee and Kason Pope; other special friends, Hughes Cadwell, Kentwan Cleveland, Jermone Potter, Kimar Peebles, Kamal Wade, Larone Giddens, Tarviso Finley, Toni Tatum, Benjamen Prutianov, Walter Johnson, Antionne Helm, Keith Frierson, Kenny Wayne, Frank Buckingham, Antonio London, Sharon Ann Ridley, Andria Olham; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
