Benjamin Carter Walker, 70, of Eldon, MO, went home with Jesus on Sunday, September 21, 2025. He was born in Pochahontas, AR, on October 16, 1954, to Preston and Helen (nee: Carter) Walker. He spent his childhood alongside his younger brother, John in Pochahontas area until his family moved to Wright City, MO, when he was a teenager.
In 1972 he graduated from Wright City High School. After which, he started his long career in the excavating field as an operator. He worked for Fabick Caterpillar as a heavy equipment salesman from August 1988, until his retirement. Although he retired, Benny never stopped working and was then employed by Twehous Excavating Company and finally Magruder Companies where he worked until shortly before his death. Father to Jennifer, it was Benny's life ambition to take care of her in whatever way he could. He repeatedly told her he wanted to do whatever he could do to make her comfortable. It often meant driving her to and from his grandson's sporting events in neighboring towns. After 11 years together, Benny was united in marriage with Karen Jo (nee: Johnson) Walker on May 22, 1999, who lovingly stayed by his side until his passing. He cared for her the way he cared for the rest of his family, unconditionally and unfailingly.Benny was a thrill seeker in his younger years. He rode the rough stock in the rodeo, enjoyed skydiving, scuba diving, and spear fishing, but he always said the best four years of his life were when his grandsons played football. He lived for Friday nights at Victor Field.Spending time and serving his family brought Benny great joy. Many turkey, duck, and deer hunting seasons were spent alongside his grandson's, and even more weekend afternoons were spent enjoying cookouts with them, his wife, and daughter at his home.Benny was an avid Eldon Mustangs fan. He was his grandson's biggest fan, never missing a football, baseball, or basketball game, and he supported each of the athletes who participated in Mustang sports.Unapologetically himself, Benny didn't mince words, and you never had to wonder what he was thinking. He would complement you or tell you to go to hell. There wasn't an in between. Even so, he was the kind of friend you looked forward to visiting with. Each time you saw him, you were met with his mile wide smile, and he always wanted to hear how you and your family were doing. Benny cared about his friends in the way he cared about his family. He was invested in their wellbeing. Benjamin Carter Walker is survived by his wife Karen; one daughter, Jennifer (Richard); daughter by marriage Leann White, and her daughter Olivia; five grandchildren, Camie, Garrett (Mackenzie), Blake (Reagan), Preston, Hunter; five great grandchildren, Zaelyn, Kaedyn, Lane, Jase, Raelynn; one nephew, Jared (Rebecca); other relatives and many close friends.
A Celebration of Life for Benny will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home, in Warrenton. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM. Burial will also be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the Warrenton City Cemetery immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, it would have made Benny so happy to have memorial donations made to Eldon Mustang Athletics, 101 South Pine, Eldon, MO, 65206.Online condolences may be made at martinfuneral.net.
