Bernie's Obituary

Clinton-

A. Bernadette “Bernie” (Duffy) Dickhaut, 89, passed peacefully at the Life Care Center of Leominster on Monday, April 28, 2025.  She is pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, David I. Dickhaut.  She is survived by her children, Peter J. Dickhaut and his wife Joan; Thomas E. Dickhaut and his companion Erika Grandberg; Kara M. Moran and her husband Christopher; and Michael Dickhaut and his companion Amy Reese; her brother, John “Joe” Duffy; six grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Justin, Makayla, Eric, and Connor; 4 great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Brayden, Reegan, and Freyja; daughter-in-law Andrea Dickhaut; generations of nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.  She is pre-deceased by two granddaughters Laura and Elizabeth, her siblings, Catherine Martunas, Patricia Hoban, Mary Miller, and Peter Duffy.  

Bernie was born in Clinton, daughter of the late Peter & Bridget (Gibbons) Duffy.  She attended local schools and graduated from the Clinton High School, Class of 1954.  In addition to raising her family, Bernie worked for many years as a clerk for Bolton Orchards.  She was a faithful lifelong parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in Clinton.  Bernie was a prolific reader, enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, and keeping up with current events.  Above all, she was happiest in the company of family and will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  The Dickhaut family wish to express their appreciation for the care and friendship provided to Bernie by the medical team and staff at the Life Care Center of Leominster throughout her residency.  

A calling hour will be held from 9:30-10:30AM on Friday, May 2, 2025 in the McNally & Watson Funeral Home, 304 Church St., Clinton, with a Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 11AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton.  Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster.  Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bernie Dickhaut to: Clinton Firefighters, 555 Main St., Clinton, MA 01510.  Online condolences may be placed at www.mcnallywatson.com
