Bert was a good man and much respected. He raised good sons and knew God. I know he will be sorely missed by all!

Bert was one of the good ones, always a straight shooter, a good hand. A man who’s faith and family always came first.

Bert's Obituary

Bert Byrd, of Happy, Texas, was welcomed into heaven by his Lord and Savior on July 12th, 2025. He was born January 10, 1959, in Post, Texas to Delbert & Voncil Byrd. He married Debbie Stafford on August 12, 1978. Bert worked in the oilfield, cowboyed, and operated feedyards. His lifelong passion was breeding and raising animals.  He was known as “Paw Paw” by not only his grandchildren, but by all their friends as well. He was a wonderful husband and dad, and although not large in stature, he loved big.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie, and their three sons and grandchildren, Eric & Suzy (Joley & Logan, Craig and Chance) Joshua Bryan & Becky (Luke, Kayla, Kerstyn and Kaden) & Brent (Esteban, Arvin, Ysabel, Valentina and Natalia,)  soon to be born great-grandson, Waylon, as well as his brother, sisters, and in-laws, Sissy, Sam, Vonda, Sharon, Chuck, Denise, Tammy, Marcie, Sidney. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, and cousins and brothers and sisters in Christ!

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 6-7pm at Hudman Funeral Home in Post, Texas.  Graveside services will be Thursday, July 17, at 10:30am at Terrace Cemetery in Post.
