Obituary

Bertha's Obituary

Mrs. Bertha Mae Lassiter, affectionately known as “Bert,” transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on December 7, 2025, at the blessed age of 91. A woman of unwavering faith, gentle strength, and boundless love, Bertha lived a life that reflected grace in every season.

Bertha was the devoted wife of the late Mr. Isaac L. Lassiter, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage. Together, they built a beautiful legacy grounded in faith, family, and service, and were abundantly blessed with eight beloved children.

A faithful and active member of Pulaski Baptist Church for over 50 years, Bertha served wholeheartedly wherever she was needed. She poured her time and spirit into the Kitchen Ministry, the Usher Ministry, and the Missionary Ministry, always carrying herself with humility and a heart for God’s people. Her life was a living testimony of God’s mercy, grace, and favor.

At home and in her community, Bertha was the pillar her family leaned on. She expressed her love not through grand gestures, but through her presence, her prayers, and the quiet strength she carried. Whenever she was near, her family felt seen, supported, and deeply loved. To know Bert was to know kindness, compassion, and the warmth of a woman who walked closely with the Lord.

Bertha leaves to cherish her precious memory: four daughters – Debera Hunter, Betty Collins (Nathan), Donna Lassiter, and Claudia Madison (William); four sons – Shelton Lassiter (Charleine), Willie Lassiter (Jannifer), Isiah Lassiter (Vernita), and Donald Lassiter (Estelle); four sisters – Eva Wrighton, Shirley Maddrey, Evonne Cherry (Larry), and Mildred White; one brother – Thomas Armstead (Kay); four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, and cherished friends.

Though Bert’s work on this earth is complete, her new and glorious journey with the Lord has just begun. Her love, her prayers, and her unwavering faith will continue to inspire all who were blessed to be touched by her life. Her legacy is not merely remembered—it lives on.

May her soul rest in perfect peace, and may her spirit continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved her.
