Betty Jean Offield, age 91, of Burkburnett, Texas, entered her eternal rest on December 25, 2025, peacefully passing into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. She was born on August 19, 1934, in Sioux City, Nebraska, to Jess and Beatrice (Fowler) Jones.
Betty was a strong, loving, and quiet caretaker who devoted her life to her family and lived with faith, humility, and grace. She married James W. Offield in 1954, and together they were blessed with three beautiful children: Steven D. Offield, Gary J. Offield, and Diana J. Offield. They shared many years of marriage and family life, grounded in love and devotion, before his passing.
She is survived by her son Gary J. Offield of Burkburnett, Texas, and daughter-in-law Teresa (Utz) Offield of Burkburnett, Texas; her cherished grandchildren Billie Jo Offield of Burkburnett, Texas, Steven M. Offield (wife Christina Offield) of Tyler, Texas, and David A. Offield (wife Stephanie Offield) of Burkburnett, Texas; and her treasured great-grandchildren Westen C. Offield, Krey A. Offield, and Hollis Q. Offield, all of Burkburnett, Texas, and Madison K. Offield and Kenadie R. Offield of Tyler, Texas.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law Wanda Sue (Offield) Clayton and husband Jimmy Clayton of Texas; nieces Mary E. (Offield) Holmes and husband Matthew Holmes and family of Virginia, Carolyn (Offield) McLucas and husband Scott McLucas and family of Virginia, and Katherine (Clayton) Lowenberg and husband Mike Lowenberg and family of Texas.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Beatrice; her beloved husband, James; her children, Steve and Diana; and her siblings, Delores (Jones) Boche and Jess L. Jones. She was gently called home to heaven, and now rests in eternal peace.
She worked many years and retired from Sprague Electric and also worked several years in the cafeteria at Kirby Junior High School, where she quietly served others with kindness and dedication. In her free time, Betty enjoyed ceramics and, most of all, spending time with her family, whom she loved deeply.
Betty’s life was a reflection of steadfast faith, gentle strength, and unconditional love. While she will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace, rejoicing in heaven, and reunited with loved ones who went before her.
Graveside services will be held on January 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Bowman Cemetery in Lakeside City, Texas, with Pastor Darren Ward officiating.
