Betty Smith, age 92, of Red Level, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025. She was born on September 9, 1933.
Betty enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors, where she felt closest to God’s creation. Family was the most important part of her life. She deeply loved her family and cherished every moment shared with them. To her grandchildren, she was affectionately known as “Nana,” a name she treasured dearly. Her life and legacy continue through her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild, all of whom brought her immense joy.
The foundation of Betty’s life was her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. Her relationship with her Savior anchored every decision, thought, and word. She reflected His love daily through her kindness, generosity, and the way she lived the commandment to “love thy neighbor as thyself.” Betty’s life was a beautiful reflection of her faith and the values she held dear in Christ.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alvin Arthur Smith; her son, Ronald Lee “Buster” Smith; her father, James Granville Majors; and her mother, Ollie Day Majors.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Brenda Edwards; granddaughters Brandy Edwards and Angie Bishop (husband, Clint); great-grandchildren Damian Bishop, Zachariah Bishop, Dayton Phillips (wife, Lauren), Daphne Edwards, Chassidy Edwards, and William Edwards; and one great-great-grandson, Sean Phillips.
Funeral services for Betty Smith will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 12:00 noon at Fairmount Baptist Church, with interment following in the Fairmount Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The service will be officiated by her grandson-in-law, Clint Bishop.
Betty’s life was one of faith, love, and family — a true testament to the grace and goodness of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
