Beverly Ann Kelt Samuel, daughter of Harold Kelt and Eleanora Scavo Kelt, was born on October 10, 1933, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and died on February 7, 2026, peacefully at home in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Beverly was the sixth born out of 5 girls and 3 boys, of whom she is survived by her youngest brother Richard Kelt. She was predeceased by her son Henry and beloved husband Evan. She is survived by her three sons Richard, Larry, Evan, and daughter Sandra. Beverly became the loving GramGram of 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren. Beverly and Evan retired in the Philadelphia area to be close to and help raise their youngest grandchildren. Beverly Ann Kelt was a true belle of New Orleans. Her father had a horse drawn ice cart that serviced the French Quarter and operated an Icehouse and Restaurant. She met the love of her life, Evan Davies Samuel from Philadelphia, who was training nearby at Keesler AFB, on the dance steamboat S.S. President in 1951. Beverly and Evan married just a few months after their first dance to “Because of You.” Evan transitioned from the Air Force to Federal IBM and together they traveled the world, raising their children in France, Germany, and Japan, with their home base being Washington D.C. While in Europe, Evan and Beverly bought a trailer and spent every school break visiting just about every country, museum, castle, and venue known. In the 60’s they traveled to and from Europe by sea on the S.S. United States and the Raffaello Italian liner. While in Japan, Beverly became the Director of Army Community Services at Camp Zama. Beverly also gained Instructor level of Ikebana floral arranging while in Japan, which she continued as a sought-after floral designer when back in the D.C. area. Beverly may have left New Orleans, but New Orleans never left Beverly which remained evident in her manner and accent. She loved to dance, play cards, BINGO, and the lottery, as well as go to the casinos, horse racing events, and everything Mardi Gras. She was convinced the best food, drink, and music was from her hometown and argued with anyone who said otherwise. Beverly lived a long and enriched life. She passed surrounded by family and listening to “Because of You.” She is surely dancing once again in Evan’s arms. Beverly will be interred with her husband Evan in Calvary Cemetery at a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, raise your glass, and dance.
