Bill Coldren Fritcher

Bill Coldren Fritcher, age 76, of Sebring, Florida, passed away Monday, August 25, 2025. Hewas born September 26, 1948, in Terre Haute, Indiana to James Marwyn and Emma Jean(Coldren) Fritcher. Bill attended Bible Fellowship Church, and has been a Sebring residentsince 2021, coming from Rochester, Illinois. Bill is survived by his Wife – Sally Fritcher ofSebring, FL; Son – Alex Fritcher of Sebring, FL; and Brother –Steve Fritcher (Elaine) of Marshall, IL.-many nieces and nephews.

Bill grew up in Marshall, Illinois, graduating from Marshall High School. He attended IndianaState University where he earned a Master’s degree in Mathematics and a Master’s degree in Physics.Bill was a member of the Theta Chi Fraternity while at Indiana State University.

After graduation in 1971, Bill moved to Springfield, IL and started working for the Illinois State Board of Education. He retired in 2001 after 30 years of service.

Bill and Sally loved to travel during their 46 years of marriage. They were able to visit 46 statesand 7 countries. One of the items on Bill’s bucket list was to cruise through the Panama Canal.

He loved seeing the engineering on that amazing structure.

Bill was an avid sports fan. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals. If he couldn’t go to BuschStadium, he didn’t miss very many games on TV or radio. Bill enjoyed watching everythingUniversity of Illinois especially the 1988-89 “Flying Illini” basketball team. Bill’s favorite sport towatch was football. The University of Texas Longhorns meant the world to him. He would playtheir fight song before every game and give them a “Hook Em Horns.” But his favorite footballteam of all was the Rochester High School Rockets. He watched the program start in 1996 andgrow to 9 state championships in 29 years. Bill was most proud to watch his son Alex #35 play the game.

A gathering with family and friends will be held later in Illinois.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Bible Fellowship Church in Sebring, Florida.
