So sorry to here about Billies passing and such a short time after Fred. I managed one of their businesses they had in Middlesboro in the '80s. They were both truly fine people. Prayers and condolences to the family.

Billie Sue Murphy Statzer, age 91 of Somerset, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Cumberland Nursing and Rehabilitation. Billie was born July 26,1933 in Norton, VA, the daughter of Eura Williams Murphy and Otis R. Murphy.
On December 29, 1953, in Big Stone Gap, VA, she married high school sweetheart Robert Fred Statzer, and they shared over 70 years together before his passing late last year. Throughout her life — whether a newlywed setting up her first home in the wilds of 1950s Alaska or a small business co-owner, mom and grandmother managing countless daily tasks--she joyfully served others, fulfilling her many roles with a loving, gentle spirit that will always comfort us when we most feel her absence.
In addition to decades as partner, accounts manager and customer contact for Statzer’s Wholesale Pizza Supply, Billie also shared her love for community and gift for gardening as a producer for the local farmers’ market, and she faithfully/reliably served multiple cycles as an election officer under supervision of the Office of the Pulaski County Clerk.
Survivors include one son, Jeffrey Statzer (Dora) of Oregon City, OR; one daughter, Kim Perkins (Jeff) of Somerset KY; three grandchildren, William Perkins, Madelyn Perkins, and Grace Perkins; one sister Louise Murphy Robinette of Powell Valley, VA; and extended family members, neighbors and friends saddened by her passing.
In addition to her parents, Eura and Otis Murphy, Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Fred Statzer; two brothers, Edward Murphy and Robert Murphy; and three sisters, Evelyn Vance, Helen Summers, and Earleen Arnold.
A Private Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, October 17th at Somerset Cemetery.
