Bishop Craig L. Buck, Sr., 72, passed away November 8, 2018 at his residence with family by his bedside. Mr. Buck was a bishop of the church he founded until his health began to decline. He served in the U.S. Army for 10 years, while serving he received a Purple Heart. Mr. Buck has traveled around the world instinctively.
He was in the cab business for over 30 years. Later becoming the owner of Boulevard Cab located in Petersburg, VA. He also drove the bus for Petersburg City Public Schools. He will always be remembered as a carrier for The Progress-Index Newspaper. Mr. Buck was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and leader to many people, he had a heart of gold.
Mr. Buck was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Sharon Buck; son, Craig Buck, Jr.; mother, Daisy Redd-Buck; father, Robert Buck and his grandmother, Martha Syndor.
Mr. Buck leaves to cherish his loving memories: wife, Roberta Buck; three daughters, Sharon Akintogunde (Ola); Terri Phelps (Kent) and Daisy Knight. He also leaves to cherish eleven grandchildren, Shante Thompson (Corey), Keyosha Drew, Breonna Drew, K’Veion Ellis, Andrew Lee, Jr., Keiayra Ellis, Quantiera Branch, Xavier Knight, Jermaine Knight and MiKerra Scott; one great granddaughter, Jaivonna Webb; three sisters, Priscilla Echlos (Tony), Martha Cowdan (Michael) and Rosylan Tripplett; two brothers, Robert Buck (Laura) and Timothy Buck (Tonita); two nephews, Derrick Triplett and Robert Buck, Jr.; a very devoted friend for so many years, Dennis Flynn (Patricia); and a host of nieces, nephews and friends too numerous to name.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurse (Virginia) of Encompass Hospice.
Services will be held 3:00 P.M., Saturday, November 17, 2018 in the Chapel of J. M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc., 102 South Avenue, Petersburg, VA, Evangelist Yvette Hill-Harris, eulogist and Minister Rashawn Hill, officiating. Interment will be held at the Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.A wake will be held from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, November 16, 2018 at the funeral establishment.The family will assemble 2:00 P.M. the day of the service and receive friends at 2922 Rollingwood Road, Petersburg, VA.
