Bishop Eddie's Obituary

The home going celebration for Bishop Eddie Newkirk, Jr. will be held Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11 A.M. at the St. John Cathedral, 3401 E. 25th Ave., ampa, Florida Chief Apostle James H. Howell, Sr. Pastor of Cathedral of Faith/Officiating, His Grace Bishop Anthony J. Hatcher, Sr. Pastor of Faith Life Outreach Christian Cathedral, Rockledge, Florida/Eulogist, officiating. Entombment will be held on Monday, February 23, 2015 at Royal Palm North, St. Petersburg, Florida.   On February 14, 2015, in the early hours of the morning, Bishop Eddie Newkirk transition to his heavenly home to be with the ones he loved so dearly, His Lord and Savior and family members.   He was born to the late Deacon Eddie Newkirk, Sr. and Sister Bessie Newkirk in Jessup, Georgia. Bishop Newkirk was a graduate of Gibbs High School, St. Petersburg, FL. He studied at Moody Bible Institute - Chicago, Ill, Bible Institute Grace Baptist Church, Beacon’s College and Florida Seminary. He received his Doctorate Degree from Brevard Christian University. Bishop Newkirk was a World War II Veteran, having enlisted in the US Navy on March 27, 1943 he served our country faithfully.   On August 15, 1947 he became the husband of one woman, the late First Lady Audrey McCray Newkirk and they were blessed with 5 children. Bishop Newkirk leaves to cherish fond and endearing memories with four sons, Carl, Maurice (wife Barbara), Ernest (Angelita Troupe), Dwight(wife Artest); one daughter, Luetwanda (Kay)(husband Okoye Morgan Sr.); nine grandchildren, Sonya, Jacquez, Eric, Chanelle, Jarvis, Marquetta, Autre, Aquel and Okoye, Jr.; six great-grandchildren, Ajia, Kequan, DeShaun, Syncere , Jordan and Kingston; 1 sister, Hattie Jones; 2 sisters-in-law, Lila and Celeste Newkirk; cousins; goddaughters; The St. John Church Family; and a host of friends and acquaintances.   Bishop Eddie Newkirk, Jr. will lie in state at the St. John Cathedral, Friday, February 20, 2015 at 12 noon. The family will receive visitors in a service honoring the Legacy of Bishop Newkirk from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Friday at the church.
