To Elder Chantel and Family : Even though we may not personally know one another , we are family in the KINGDOM OF GOD , and I share in the untimely passing of Bishop Hamlin and in the pain and sorrow that has been inflicted upon your family. We believe that there is no pain nor sorrow that GOD , in all of HIS Wisdom and thru HIS SPIRIT , cannot and will not bring healing . May HE send HIS Angels , as I believe HE has already commissioned to stand by your sides and with you to minister to...

Bishop Steaven's Obituary

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.” — Matthew 25:21

The Honorable Bishop Steaven R. Hamlin, Sr., beloved shepherd, husband, father, and friend, transitioned peacefully from labor to reward on November 6, 2025, at the age of 66. He was born on August 8, 1959, in Suffolk, Virginia, to the late Willie and Susie Hamlin.

For 25 beautiful years, Bishop Hamlin shared an unbreakable bond of love and ministry with his devoted wife, Elder Chantal Hamlin — his partner in purpose, prayer, and promise. Together, they served the Lord with excellence and compassion, nurturing countless souls and building a ministry rooted in love, deliverance, and restoration.

Bishop Hamlin’s life was a living sermon — a reflection of unwavering faith, divine obedience, and servant leadership. Ordained in 2007 and consecrated as Bishop in 2017, he faithfully led The New Powerhouse Family Worship Center Church, where his ministry flourished and lives were transformed. His voice carried Heaven’s power, his heart carried compassion, and his hands carried the work of the Kingdom.

Beyond the pulpit, Bishop Hamlin’s ministry reached the margins — the broken, the overlooked, and the forgotten. Through jailhouse ministry, homeless outreach, and his passionate work in drug, alcohol, and addiction recovery, he became a living vessel of God’s grace. He had a special gift for seeing the best in people and reminding them that no one is beyond redemption.

Bishop Hamlin loved his church family deeply and labored tirelessly for the Kingdom. Whether preaching the Word, repairing the church walls, or praying with someone in need, he served with humility and joy. He truly embodied the spirit of a shepherd who knew his flock — and loved them one by one.

He will be remembered as a man of laughter and light, known for his warm humor and infectious joy. In his presence, one could always expect a hearty laugh, a word of encouragement, or a powerful prayer — sometimes all three. His laughter was contagious, his counsel wise, and his spirit unshakable.

Bishop Hamlin’s greatest earthly treasures were his family. He leaves to cherish his precious memory: his loving wife, Elder Chantal Hamlin; his children Steaven Hamlin Jr., LaKisha J Faulk  (Shuan), Marcus Hamlin, Michael Madison, Marquese Madison (Andrea), Anfernee Knight, and Nevis Hamlin; sixteen beloved grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; his siblings Elder Louise Watford, Mae Hall (John), Betty Stephens, Carol Hamlin (Mary), Martin Hamlin, and Marvin Hamlin; and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, spiritual sons and daughters, and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by one grandchild, three brothers, and one sister.

Bishop Steaven R. Hamlin, Sr. was a man after God’s own heart — a true servant, a faithful intercessor, and a vessel of divine love. His legacy will continue to live in every sermon preached, every soul uplifted, and every heart he helped heal. Though his earthly work is complete, his spirit continues to echo in the walls of The New Powerhouse Family Worship Center, and in the hearts of all who had the blessing of knowing him.
