Obituary

Blaine's Obituary

Blaine Cotton Gilmore, age 33, passed away at his home in Fort Myers, Florida, on June 11, 2025.

Blaine was born on February 16, 1992, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Amy and Guy Gilmore. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend—known for his quiet strength and sweet personality. He was baptized in November 2002 at the First Baptist Church in Wichita Falls.

Blaine graduated from Holliday High School in 2010, the same year he earned the rank of Eagle Scout—an achievement that only 4% of Boy Scouts reach. From 2014 to 2022, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves, where he obtained the rank of corporal. He had recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserves to continue his duty to his country.

Blaine worked in the remodeling field for many years in the DFW area. A highly skilled craftsman and carpenter, he had recently moved to Fort Myers, Florida to begin work at Florida Stairworks.

Blaine was always up for an adventure. He loved hiking, snowboarding, camping, Jeeping in Colorado, traveling, and spending time at the beach. He had deep family ties to Archer County, where he loved spending time outdoors.

He was also unintentionally hilarious - always quick with a witty comment or showing up wearing something delightfully silly. Though he was stubborn and determined to do things his own way, he did so with a gentle spirit and a tender heart. He had a warm smile that would light up his beautiful eyes.

Blaine is survived by his parents, Amy and Jaimie Scott, and Ginger and Guy Gilmore; sisters, Allison Scott and Katie Case; brother, Garrett Gilmore; two nephews, Evans Case and Calvin Case; grandparents, Judy and Walter Lemons, Barbara and Wayne Scott, and Patty and James Skinner; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was a true delight to his family, who will love and miss him forever.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, Texas. The funeral service will take place on Friday, June 20, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Pursley, officiating. Blaine will be laid to rest following the service at the Dundee Cemetery in Dundee, Texas under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dundee Cemetery Association in Blaine's memory: online donations: Donate in memory of Blaine Cotton Gilmore, or by mail to: Dundee Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1037, Holliday, Texas 76366.
