Bobby Martin age 73 of Florala passed away October 12, 2025.
Bobby spent his life working as a pulpwooder — one of the most grueling and demanding jobs there is. Long before the days of modern machinery and equipment, he cut, hauled, and loaded timber by hand. The work was long, the days were hard, and the labor was exhausting, but Bobby never complained. He took pride in providing for his family through honest work, and his dedication reflected the strength of his character and the grit of his generation.
But Bobby’s life was far richer than the labor he did. He was known for his generous spirit and his willingness to help anyone in need. If someone was struggling, Bobby was the first to show up with a helping hand and a warm heart. His kindness was boundless and his heart was always open.
Perhaps one of Bobby’s greatest acts of love was the role he stepped into as a father. Though not a biological father, he raised Jerry as his own — pouring into him love, guidance, and strength. Bobby was a steady, loving presence and a father figure in every way that mattered, shaping a life and leaving behind a legacy that will endure for generations.
Above all, Bobby loved his family deeply. He cherished his wife, Frances Martin, and together they built a home full of love, laughter, and faith. His family was his greatest joy and the center of his world.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife, Frances Martin; his son, Jerry Jackson (Dakota); his brother, Jerry Martin; and his sister, Pam Martin. He was preceded in death by his father, George Martin; his mother, Ruth Pope Martin; his brother, Joe Martin; and his sister, Patty Gilman.
Bobby’s life was defined by grit and grace — strong enough to bear the weight of a hard day’s work, yet gentle enough to lift the burdens of others. He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Though his hands are now at rest, the work of his heart will live on forever.
Services for Bobby Martin will be 2PM Thursday October 16, 2025 at Evans Funeral Home with James Pickron officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before services.
