Old Brad was a good old boy, plumb Texan through and through. He loved to talk sports, Texas weather, lawn maintenance, travel, tv westerns and barbecue. We all miss him a big bunch.

I knew Brad pretty much his whole life, as well as Eddie, Vivian, Susan, and Jim. Tragic deaths at such a joyous time of year are especially shocking. We hope for the family to find a path to peace at this trying time.

I am devastated and dumbstruck by this loss. As the days, weeks, months, and years pass, and as you return to life's routine, a new normal, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. I am here for you, Lynette, a phone call away. You can call me any time of the day or night. I love you.

Brad Coutant Boddy was born in Wichita Falls to Eddie and Vivian Boddy on Valentine’s Day 1956 and died on Christmas Day 2025. He was 69 years old and was taken from his family, friends, and community far too soon as the result of a tragic accident.
He was the youngest of three children. His sister Susan predeceased him but he is survived by his brother, Jim Boddy. He graduated from Henrietta High school and Midwestern State University.
Brad lived his life to the fullest. He never met a stranger and had a legion of friends. He had many chapters in his life. He was a quarterback, a rancher, a Deacon with the Episcopal church, a coach, a husband, a father, a lifelong student, but his true calling was his work in Special Education. It was working with his students over the years, where he touched so many lives and made his biggest contributions to the community. The tougher the kid, the better the challenge. While Brad was one of the toughest educators most kids ever experienced, it was his absolute faith that they could and would succeed that carried and pushed those same tough cases to do exactly that, succeed. He won their hearts so much that many have brought their babies to meet “Coach” when they got older.
Brad was fun! He never missed a prank or a wild time. From riding horses into bars to racing dirt bikes, if an adrenaline rush was involved, so was he. He loved to cook and he was outstanding at it. His signature BBQ will never be forgotten and probably never be duplicated.
He loved his family. He leaves behind his wife of almost 30 years, Lynette Bullinger Boddy. He also leaves behind his children, Christian Boddy Bills and her husband Taylor, Thomas Boddy and his wife Kelsey, Carly Swann and her husband Robert, and Carrie Cowan and her partner Lane. He leaves behind his eight beloved grandchildren: Cooper, Braeden, Vivianne, Baker, Phoebe, Barron, Calum, and Dutton. Brad was an outstanding Pops. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends between 6 and 8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 in the Parrish Hall at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. Jonathan Demma, celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Henrietta under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.
