BRUCE's Obituary

Bruce Allen Floyd, Jr., was born on August 16, of 1973, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson, Kentucky, to Deborah Turner (Barnes) and Bruce Allen Floyd, Sr.  Bruce Allen was the oldest brother of five.  He matriculated through the Henderson Country School system.  He later graduated from Henderson County High School and went on to further his education at USI (University of Southern Indiana).  Bruce was called home to be in the presence of the Lord on June 27, 2023.   He was a son, a father, a brother, an uncle, and a cousin.

Bruce confessed Christ at an early age under leadership of Marcus James Sykes at Holy Tabernacle Church of God.  He was a man of the church, always a religious man.  As some would say “heavily anointed,” he praised God in everything he did.  He had been baptized several times and was undoubtedly a Christian at his core.

Bruce was a free spirit.  He moved with the wind.  He grew up and was born and raised in Henderson.  But that wasn’t the surface of his expedition.  He loved to travel.  He loved to reminisce on his trip to Bora Bora.  He chased adventure and was very much a thrill seeker.

He loved playing tourist for the weekend.  He would pack up and just go stay anywhere for three days.  He had always been spontaneous that way.  He was the biggest food junkie.  And all of his friends and family would know him for being the most passionate sports consumer.  He played and grew up watching rugby, basketball, football, and bowling.  He had in his latter life learned to play golf as much as he loved to watch the Masters and Tiger Woods.  His Pittsburg Steelers could never do any wrong in his eyes.  He was a faithful fan always, of all his teams.

Upon his endeavors, he never met a stranger.  And strangers gravitated toward him too. He just knew how to converse with anyone.  Extremely outgoing and personable, he was always the biggest smile and loudest laugh in the room.  He went out of his way to make everyone laugh.  If you ever met him, you know how actually unique of a personality he had.  He was very complex, very methodical, and one of the most intelligent people some of us will ever get the chance to meet.  If you looked in his heart, you saw all the love he had to give and the way he truly did have a burning fire of a determination.

Bruce was preceded in death by his grandparents, uncles, aunt, and stepfather.

Bruce leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Zoe Bella Floyd of Owensboro, Kentucky; his mother, Deborah Turner and father Bruce Floyd, Sr. (Gwen), both of Henderson, Kentucky; his brother, Jonathan Floyd (Candice) of Newburgh, Indiana; his sisters, Tamitra Gray (Kwan) and Calisa Floyd, both of Evansville, Indiana, and Christal Floyd of Bowling Green, Kentucky; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Services will be at noon Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home.  The Reverend Earl Floyd and the Reverend Earl Carter will officiate.  Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2023, and 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Scripture  John 14: 1. Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
