Bruce's Obituary

Bruce Edward Johnson, age 67 of Anderson, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at his residence.  Born April 7, 1958 in Lansing, Michigan, he was the son of Jim and Edith (Guthrie) Johnson.  Bruce attended school in Lansing, Michigan  After high school, Bruce answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he dedicated 20 years with honor and distinction.  He most recently worked in the IT Department for Westfield-Washington School, where he was highly respected for his expertise.  Bruce’s life was enriched by his love of music - he was a gifted guitarist and cherished his time performing with many local bands including Coldwater Cut, Private Monster, and Linda Lee & Noble Creek Band.  Bruce also enjoyed studying and practicing judo martial arts.  He found spiritual nourishment attending Shepherd Church online each week and embraced a life of simplicity and quiet strength.

Bruce’s surviving family includes his mother and step-father, Edie and Don Daggett of Lansing, MI; 4 children, Brandie (Cody) Lippott of Noblesville, Jason (Kim) Dishneau of Marinette, WI, Phillip (Ginger) Johnson of Highpoint, NC, and Blake Johnson of Chesterfield; sister, Brenda Parker of Pottersville, MI; 9 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.  Bruce was preceded in death by his father; brother, Jimmy Johnson; all his beloved grandparents; many aunts and uncles; and numerous cousins.

A memorial visitation honoring Bruce’s life will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Entombment of his ashes with military honors by the U.S. Marines will take place at a later date at Chapel Hill Cemetery Mausoleum in Lansing, Michigan.  Bruce’s arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Online condolences and stories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
