    Buddy John Slaughter Jr., 66, of Rhinelander, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. 

    Buddy was born in Potsville, Iowa on January 1, 1957, to Buddy John and Shelby Jean (Holden) Slaughter Sr. After his birth, his siblings were then born, Patricia in 1958, Linda in 1960 and Bobby in 1964.  The family moved to McGregor, Iowa where they were raised. Buddy attended high school to the twelfth grade. 

    Buddy pursued his passion of being a Mechanic along side his dad, brother, and uncle. He enjoyed this profession for most of his life. He lived most of his life in Iowa. He met his future wife, Diann Link while at the bowling alley in Rhinelander. The couple dated for a few years and on April 17, 2009 were married in Rhinelander. Buddy loved his family. He enjoyed Karaoke with his wife Diann. The couple would take their talents to care facilities in the area where he and Diann would entertain the residents, sometimes for hours, singing, telling stories and sharing an occasional joke. 

    He is survived by his loving wife, Diann Link-Slaughter, his children, BJ, Jess, Laura, and Shelinda, sixteen grandchildren, his mom and dad, Shelby and Bud Slaughter Sr., siblings, Patricia, (Wesley) Kinley, Linda (Corwyn) Martin, and Bobby Slaughter. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins whom he thought of as immediate family and other relatives and friends.

    He is preceded in death by his grandparents, and many aunts, uncles and friends.

    A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
