C. Wayne Roahrig, 88, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at his home in Princeton, WV, joining his beloved wife Darlene in Heaven. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the service hour. Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Indiana, where Wayne will be laid to rest once again beside his wife Darlene of 48 years. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, or Step Up into TLC, Inc. Wayne was born August 29, 1930 in Coshocton, Ohio to the late Harlan and Pearl Roahrig. He was honorably discharged December 1952 from the United States Navy after serving as a Sonarman on the USS Perkins deployed in the Korean War. He then attended Indiana Technical School earning a degree in Electrical Engineering, culminating in a successful 39 year career with American Electric Power, retiring in St. Joseph, Michigan in the mid 1990’s. Throughout his life, Dad called home a 50 acre farm near Farmland, Indiana where he raised his five sons, St. Joseph, Michigan where he finished his career, and finally in Princeton, West Virginia where he lived out his twilight years of retirement after the loss of his beloved wife Darlene. He was active in several community organizations, churches, and an avid golfer. A caring father to five sons; Randal and wife Mary of Princeton; Gregg, who preceded him in death in 2012, and wife Nancie of Red Rock, AZ; Brent and wife Jo of Fort Worth, TX; Todd and wife Lisa of Pittsburgh, PA; and Troy and wife Gina of Birmingham, AL; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Wayne was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margene of Coshocton, OH, and Doris of Fort Wayne, IN. Remembering him in his recliner eating ice cream…he was loved by his incredible team of caregivers whose help was indispensable and appreciated by his family. We all will miss you, Dad.
