Not sure what to say?

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

'My cup runneth over' is a phrase from Psalm 23:5 that signifies an abundance of blessings and a state of overflowing joy and contentment. It means that one has received so much good that it overflows their capacity, and they are overwhelmed with gratitude and blessings. It highlights God's lavish generosity and the abundance of His gifts."

With that said, thank You Lord for your Grace and Mercy which enabled me to meet, spend time with uncle Calvin and experience his sense...

Obituary

Calvin's Obituary

After a long and courageous battle with cancer, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Calvin Jones, transitioned to be with his Heavenly Father on August 11, 2025.

Calvin was born on October 5, 1944, in Georgia to Dosie Lee and John Jones. He later made his home in Jasper, Florida, where he was raised alongside his siblings. He is preceded in death by Addie Clay, Elousise Cherry, Joseph Jones, and Rosetta Townsend, and is lovingly remembered by his surviving sisters, Annie Morrison and Rosa B. Hawkins.

From an early age, Calvin was instilled with strong values of faith, family, and service. These guiding principles shaped the man we all came to know and love. Calvin was a hardworking man, never one to leave a job unfinished. He attended Florida A & M University, pursuing a degree in agriculture, which blossomed into a lifelong love for gardening and the environment—a passion that defined much of his life.

In January 1966, Calvin chose to serve his country as a member of the United States Army, later serving in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1969 as a decorated serviceman, achieving the rank of SP4. His commendations included the Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, M14 and M16 Marksman Badges, Expert Rifle Badge, and four Overseas Bars.

After his service, Calvin moved to Gary, Indiana, where he worked for General Services before beginning a long career with the Budd Company, which later transferred him to Philadelphia for 14 years.

In Philadelphia, Calvin married the love of his life, Jacque’Lyne, with whom he shared almost 40 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, faith, and creativity. Calvin was a self-taught artist, a dedicated church member, and a joyful singer in the church choir. He served as faithful member of Bibleway Baptist Church, Phila, Pa and Evergreen Baptist Church, Palmyra, NJ. He served as a teacher in his church using his gift of teaching children about art and culture, leaving a legacy of inspiration for future generations. Also a member of New Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church of Calera, AL.

Calvin’s life was a testament to courage, commitment, and compassion. His presence touched the lives of all who knew him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Jacque’Lyne, his children Anton E. Jones and Kywana O. Jones (Donta), his cherished granddaughters Savannah Leigh-Lores and Leighlah Serene-De Haynes, his sisters, Annie Morrison and  Rosa B. Hawkins; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will forever miss his kind heart, strong spirit, and unwavering faith.

Live life to the fullest, harming no one along the way- Calvin Jones
