We are praying God gives you the Peace and Comfort, as you go through these sorrowful times. We will always remember Mother Jackson. She was a great woman of God. Her wisdom she shared as First Lady of Greater Mt. Calvary Church will forever last in our lives. She was a true jewel.

Caretha's Obituary

Caretha Elizabeth Jackson, affectionately known as “Sista,” was born July 13, 1945, in Tallahassee, Florida, and peacefully transitioned on January 2, 2026, at the age of 80.

A longtime resident of Pontiac, Michigan, Caretha was a loving and devoted wife of 52 years, a cherished mother, and a woman of strong faith.  She was baptized at an early age and formerly served as First Lady of Greater Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.  A woman of few words, she was steady, grounded, and deeply family-oriented.

Caretha retired from General Motors and was a proud member of UAW Local 653, where she took great pride in her years of dedicated service.

She is survived by her husband, Pastor Roger Jackson; her daughters, Towanna Jackson (LaShawn Peterson) and Zerlina Jackson (Peter Hiemstra); and her beloved bonus daughters, Sophia Crump (Arthur Crump), Sheris Paul (Ansley Paul), and Shannen Burress (William Burress).

She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Josephine Talton (Robert Talton), Shawntel Holmes, and Jackson Hiemstra; her goddaughter, Roshawnda Allen; her brother, Frank Brinson, her sisters, Queen Brinson, Sharon Brinson, and Edwina Brinson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her son, Frank Edward Brinson; her parents,William and Essie Lee Brinson; her sisters, Anita Henderson and Virginia Davidson; and her brother, William "Jack" Brinson Jr.

Caretha Elizabeth Jackson will lie in state on Thursday, January 15, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Cobbs Funeral Home, 151 Orchard Lake Road, Pontiac, Michigan.

Homegoing services will be held Friday at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 318 Auburn Road, Pontiac, Michigan.  Family hour will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by service at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Perry Mount Park Cemetery.
