Obituary

Carl D.'s Obituary

Carl D. Hicks, 78, husband of the late Faye Taylor Hicks, passed away January 5, 2026 at his home in Lawrenceburg.  Born in Olive Hill, Kentucky on December 22, 1947, Carl was the son of the late Willie Hicks and Gladys Lawhorn Hicks. 

Including his wife and parents, Carl was preceded in death by siblings, Alma Kay Fryman, Anna Faye Snipes, Alva Beagle, Allen Hicks, Kenneth Hicks, and Dale Hicks. 

Carl served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and later worked in maintenance for Kentucky State Government.  He and his wife, Faye were members of Central Baptist Church.  Known as a Jack of All Trades and a Master of None, according to his children, Carl tinkered with everything.  He was an avid collector of antiques and loved birds.  Friendly in his nature, Carl never met a stranger. 

Survivors include his three children, Tracy (Shelly) Hicks and Melissa A. Hicks, both of Lawrenceburg, and Carl “Peewee” (Diana) Hicks, II of Danville; 6 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sisters, Nadine Sims of GA, Iris Case and Pam Stewart of Lawrenceburg; and brothers, Richard Hicks and Terry Hicks of Lawrenceburg; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home.  Bro. Rick Clark will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.  Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11am until the time of service at 1 pm on Thursday.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tracy Hicks, Chris Hicks, Carl “Peewee” Hicks, Gabriel Hicks, Joey Wheatley, Ayden Wheatley, Tony Walker, and Austin Walker.
