Not sure what to say?

Aunt Carla was always so amazing and welcoming to me in the family. She always had a smile and a comfortable to be around aura. my late husband her nephew Kevin loved her so much. I thank the universe to have known such an amazing person. I just know that reunion on the other side with all the past loved ones was amazing. Sending my love to all the family.

Carla's Obituary

January 17, 1947 – March 8, 2026

Born in Salt Lake City to Twila Sweat Calhoun and Floyd Pace.

Carla, known affectionately by those who loved her as “Carla Babe,” was a true fighter who passed away peacefully after a tough battle at the age of 79.

Carla was a force to be reckoned with — hard-headed, strong, and famously stubborn. She was never afraid to tell you exactly where to go and how to get there, a quality her family and friends will remember with a smile.

She was deeply devoted to her family, cherishing Sunday dinners and loving to cook for everyone. Carla had a lifelong passion for cookbooks and reading, always eager to try new meals and experiment in the kitchen.

For thirty years, she worked at the iconic Lazy Dog in Riverton, where she was loved by many friends and even those just passing through. She was always ready for a heartfelt chat with customers and close friends alike.

A woman of many interests, Carla loved shopping, getting her nails done, traveling, and fishing. She was remarkably artistic and enjoyed collecting, with a special fondness for Betty Boop. After moving to Arizona, she developed a love for swimming and never missed her “stories,” Days of Our Lives and The Young and the Restless.

Carla was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her son, Billy; her parents, Floyd & Twila Pace, and her grandson, Chad. It brings her family great comfort knowing she is now reunited with her two brothers, two sisters, and her parents, along with many loved ones who welcomed her above with open arms.

She was loved dearly by many and leaves behind her dear friends in Arizona, her siblings, her children, grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren who will cherish her memory always.

Visitation for Carla will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Broomhead Funeral Home located at 12600 S. 2200 W.-Riverton, Utah. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Riverton Cemetery located at 13200 S. 1500 W.-Riverton, Utah.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at Huntsman Cancer Institute for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Carla throughout her journey. Special thanks to her devoted daughter, Sheryl, and her son, Jim, who remained faithfully by her side every moment of the battle she bravely fought.

She leaves behind a legacy of strength, grit, and love that will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Her table was always open, her heart always full, and her love for family will live on in every gathering they share.

Though she is gone from our sight, she will forever remain in our hearts.
