Carlos Charles Boyd, born August 18, 1953, stepped into eternity on December 1, 2025, at the age of 72. Born to John Dennis Boyd and Mercedes Donato Boyd, Carlos was raised with strong values, deep family connections, and a foundation of love that guided him throughout his life.
A proud graduate of Ross S. Sterling High School in Baytown, Texas, Carlos went on to attend Texas Southern University before choosing a path of service to his country. He enlisted in the United States Navy, a decision that shaped his character and broadened his worldview. Stationed in San Diego, California, and later in Japan, Carlos traveled widely—embracing new cultures, gathering stories, and creating memories he joyfully shared with others. He served with honor until his discharge in 1975.
Carlos later married Carolyn Chargios Boyd, his steadfast companion through life’s joys, challenges, and triumphs. Their marriage was a partnership defined by unwavering support, deep affection, and a genuine love that sustained them for decades.
In his later years, Carlos faced significant health challenges, yet he met every trial with remarkable courage and steadfast faith. He lived each day with intention and gratitude, inspiring others with his resilience. Carlos never met a stranger; his generous heart, willingness to help, and gentle spirit made him beloved by all who crossed his path.
He devoted much of his later life to travel and missionary work. Through his efforts—supported by Father Nixion, a former priest at Holy Family—he helped secure more than eight wells in communities across Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana, Belize, and Mexico, leaving a lasting humanitarian impact providing water for over 2000 people.
Carlos is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn Chargios Boyd; his children: Carlos Charles Boyd II, Devin Boyd, Aireal Boyd, and Andrea Boyd; and his grandchildren—Daylin, LaVeyah, Lawson, Aria, Alani, Dennis, and Bryce—who were among his greatest joys. He is also survived by his cherished sisters, Joan Boyd and Terry Boyd Dearion; his loving godson, Marque Brown; and a very special niece, Sydney Boyd.
He was further blessed by the lifelong support and affection of Vera Donato Dumas (Aunt), Verne Donato (Godfather/Uncle), and Joyce Nichols Swanagan (Godmother/Cousin).
Carlos Charles Boyd will be remembered for his warm spirit, magnetic personality, and captivating storytelling. He had a gift for making people feel seen, valued, and appreciated. His legacy is one of courage, curiosity, compassion, and a life fully and beautifully lived.
May his memory continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
