Not sure what to say?

Carol was one of my residence during the short time she lived at independence Village. She was very kind, told me many stories shared a few laughs, And I would always help her put a game show on, she was so kind.

Thinking of you & your family Buddy

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. Thank you for being a friend through all of these years.

I will always fondly remember Carol, especially her thoughtfulness to my mom and me. I will never forget how she would call to check in on my mom over the years or her cute comment on my facebook posts!

Rudy, my deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Nothing better than seeing Carol every Christmas and watching her enjoy her grandchildren unwrapping gifts. Letting my memories sustain me with her absence.

Obituary

CAROL A.'s Obituary

CAROL A. NAJDA (nee Sammon) age 84, beloved wife of 60 years to Rudolph D. “Rudy”; loving mother of Christopher (Michelle) and Jennifer Rupnow (David); proud grandma of Lauren, Julia, Katy, Christopher, Meredith, Kyle and Liam; daughter of the late Anne (nee Lutian) and Ray Sammon; sister of the late Raymond, John and Marie Sammon; sister-in-law of Richard Najda. She entered into eternal rest on October 14, 2025.

Born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 21, 1941, Carol lived a life full of laughter, love, and devotion to her family. She volunteered at Southwest General Hospital’s Blossom Spot, where she enjoyed arranging flowers and brightening the days of patients and staff alike. Carol worked for the family business for many years and also spent time at Union Carbide. However, she always said her most important and rewarding job was being a mom and grandma. Her family was truly the center of her world.

A devoted sports fan, Carol cheered passionately for Cleveland’s teams and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Also, a passionate member of the Women's League. She was known for her positive attitude, warm smile, infectious laugh, and wonderful sense of humor.

Carol’s favorite sayings — “Okie dokie smokie,” “Snug as a bug in a rug,” “Winner winner chicken dinner,” “Happy Thanksgiving, Pilgrim,” and “Pinch to grow an inch” (a must on birthdays) — perfectly captured her cheerful and playful spirit. Carol, a.k.a. “Christmas Carol,” loved Christmas time, especially watching National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation and endless Hallmark Channel movies. She enjoyed playing Uno and Yahtzee, and sipping ginger ale while surrounded by loved ones.

Family vacations to St. Pete Beach, Florida were among her happiest memories, and she never missed celebrating anyone’s birthday, always remembering and making each person feel special.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Carol’s name to Ames Family Hospice House (Hospice of the Western Reserve).
