Carol's Obituary

Carol Lynn Cain - George, 72, a truly gentle spirit, passed away September 12 following a brief illness.

Carol was born at Offutt Air Force Base - Nebraska, to Mary (Schmidt) Cain and Clayton Cain. She lived in Iowa for most of her life, graduating from Jefferson High School and Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids.

Much of Carol’s career was spent with GE Capital. She retired from Toyota in 2023.

Carol loved riding her Harley-Davidson for many years. She also enjoyed caring for the hummingbirds, chipmunks, and squirrels that called her garden oasis ‘home,’ and was an avid watcher of the Decorah Eagles Cam.

One of her fondest memories was witnessing sea turtles hatch and make their journey to the sea.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister. She is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas George; sisters Wendy Cain (Marty), Carla Failor (Mike), Marcy Pennington (David); brother Clinton Cain (Mary); nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A celebration of Carol’s life will be held at a later date.

Carol’s compassion and love of nature will live on in all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Critter Crusaders in her honor.
