Carol Ann Ortega age 84, of Sebastopol, passed away on February 8th, 2026 surrounded by family. Born on July 16th, 1941 to Henry and Gertrude Forni. She attended Polytechnic High School in San Francisco. In 1961 she married Anthony Ortega and together they raised a family of four boys, never a dull moment. She eventually returned to school and graduated with a nursing degree from the Santa Rosa Junior College. For over 30 years she worked as a nurse at several hospitals in Sonoma County. Carol was passionate about camping, travel, the ocean, and spending time with family and friends. She was known for her outgoing personality and cooking, especially for birthday parties and holidays. No one ever left a visit with Carol hungry.
Carol is survived by sons Anthony Ortega (Sara), Henry Ortega (Molly), Keith Ortega (Anita), and David Ortega (Tammy). Grandchildren include Alyssa, William, Quinn, Sharilyn, Stephanie, Macy, Lexi, Trenton, Carson, Madison, and Nathan. She is survived by many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony, parents Henry and Gertrude.
A Funeral Service will be held on February 11 at 2:00pm at Pleasant Hills Memorial Park Chapel in Sebastopol. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
