Carol's Obituary

Carol E. Schecklman, age 86, of Marshfield, entered eternal life on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the House of the Dove with family by her side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 201 West Blodgett Street, Marshfield, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018 with Reverend Barry Saylor officiating. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery with Carol’s grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation for family and friends will be on Friday, November 30, 2018 at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home 1010 East Veterans Parkway, Marshfield from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again one hour before the time of service at the church on Saturday.

Carol was born April 17, 1932, in Marshfield to Victor and Kathryn (Lowe) Christensen. She graduated from Marshfield Senior High School in 1950. She enjoyed playing and performing music in the marching band as well as square dancing. Carol was trained and worked as a Legal Secretary, before becoming a Fuller-Brush Sales Representative and retired from the Marshfield Clinic’s Medical Records department.

Carol married her friend, Otto J. Schecklman, on May 9, 1955 in the Little Brown Church of Nashua, Iowa. They enjoyed a lifetime of love and friendship in their 50 years together, until Otto passed in 2005. Together, they raised seven children, lived their values and created a home filled with love, laughter and grace where family, friends and neighbors were accepted and encouraged. Carol and Otto enjoyed traveling the United States in their retirement.

She is survived by her seven children, Bonnie (Terry) Wanta of the Madison area, Jane (Brian) Abel of Ocala, Florida, John (Angie) Schecklman of Marshfield, Linda Anderson of Stratford, Mary (Brad) Funk of Stevens Point, David (Pam) Schecklman of Appleton and Scott (Marianne) Schecklman of Beaverton, Oregon. She is further survived by twenty grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, two brothers—Conrad Christensen of Marshfield and Carl (Carol) Christensen of Ingalls, Kansas—and one sister, Evelyn (LaVern) Knoll of Mountain.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Otto. Carol was blessed with the love and friendship of Tom Wakely of Rhinelander until she passed.
