Carol Wissing, born in the Bronx, NY, on July 24, 1948, passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with glioblastoma (brain cancer). She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend—remembered for her joyful spirit, warm heart, and love of life.
Carol shared 57 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, Gary Wissing. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. Carol graduated from Cardinal Spelling High School and pursued a Nursing degree from Bronx Community College. She was known for her love of family, cruises, dancing, golf, and mahjong—a game she enjoyed playing with cherished friends. She was an amazing cook and loved making delicious meals for her family. She could light up any room with her smile and dazzled everyone with her gorgeous outfits. Every Friday night you could find Carol and Gary dancing the night away at the Italian American Club with their wonderful friends, especially to their signature song, Fireball.
She was the proud and loving mother of three daughters: Dawn (Bruno) DiGennaro, Tara (Dylan) Fagan, and Deanna (Mark) Saunders. Her eight grandchildren—Bruno Jr., Nicholas, and Christopher DiGennaro; Derek and Dacey Fagan; Rhema, Ethan, and Olivia Saunders—were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment with them.
Carol is survived by her loyal husband, Gary Wissing, loving mother, Carol Volpe, and her dear siblings: Linda (Frank) Sanita, Carleen (Ron) Scherer, and James (Jeanine) Volpe, Jr. She was predeceased by her father, James Volpe, whose memory she carried with her always.
Carol leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her strength, kindness, and nurturing spirit touched everyone who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, July 25th, with visitation at 10:00 am and a memorial at 11:00 am, at Clymer’s Funeral Home, 39 Old Kings Road North, Palm Coast, FL 32137. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital ( StJude.org ).

My deepest sympathy to Gary and the entire family. I’m sorry I couldn’t attend the services, I was out of the country and just learned of Carol’s passing. I had the true pleasure of playing Mah Jongg with Carol on Mondays. She was a kind, caring person with the sweetest disposition.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We cherish memories of so many great adventures we shared, from Northern Lights chasing at 3 a.m. in Alaska to camel riding in Morocco, piazzas in Capri to spare ribs at Tony Roma's in Aruba. Co-conspirator, inspiring ally, trusted friend, the void she leaves behind will never be filled.
We will be in Palm Coast for one final voyage, sad but hopeful of meeting again ...

I knew Carol from playing Mah Jongg with her for so many years. I frequently complimented Carol on either her pretty clothes or shoes. I always knew when Carol sat at a table of four players of which I was one of the players she would frequently win the game. She was a very good Mah Jongg player and always very nice with a beautiful smile. I am so sorry for her family to lose her at a relatively young age, My most heartfilled condolences. I will not be able to be at the funeral home but know that I think of her often,

Carol was classy and beautiful. I always enjoyed seeing her bright smile coming to play mahjong. She loved the game and was very good at it.
