Carolyn Sue's Obituary

Carolyn Sue Eakes age 77 of Watertown, died Sunday evening, May 11, 2025 at her residence. Sue was born Feb. 26, 1948, daughter of the late Claude Thomas King Sr. and Alota Frances Barnett King. She was a graduate of Mt. Juliet High School and was the first female EMT for Wilson Emergency Management where she had a 32 year career as a Firefighter and Paramedic/EMT.

Sue is survived by her daughter, Sandra "Poppy" Graves (Kevin); son, Robert Wade "Peanut" Eakes (Melissa); grandchildren, Andrea (Jessie) Dillard, Mark (Trisha) Graves, Kaitlyn (Will) Wakefield, Megan Eakes, Clare Eakes, Tristan Eakes; great grandchildren, Natalie Craddock, Colbie and Mya Kate Dillard, Ellie and Rhett Graves, Steel and Rucker Wakefield; great great granddaughter, Evie Ann Williams  She is also survived by her sisters; Betty Jo Wilee and Debbie Tarpley; brother, Robert Dale (Cathy) King; nieces and nephews, and family friend, Ronnie "Red" Blair.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary L. Eakes; son, Gary "Pee Wee: Eakes and infant son, Christopher Dale Eakes;granddaughter, Samantha Craddock; brothers, Tommy King and Donald Cunningham; sister, Linda Cunningham; brothers-in-law, Bob Wilee and Gary Tarpley.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Robinson officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. till 8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. till service time on Thursday. Pallbearers, Jessie Dillard, Paul Tarpley, Lynn Tarpley, Jeff Craddock, Tristan Eakes, Mark Graves. Honorary pallbearers, Will Wakefield, Ethan Williams, Will Puckett. Interment will follow at Jennings Cemetery in Statesville.
