Catherine Sue “Cathy” Wheeler, 66, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice Unit, after an eight-month battle with cancer. She was born January 23, 1959, in Waukegan, Illinois, to Charles Howard and Margie Lyons Wheeler. As a child, Cathy enjoyed living in Illinois on a horse farm and a racetrack, before the family moved to Mississippi in 1976. After graduating high school, she was employed at finance companies before going to work for Eagle Capital, where she worked for over 20 years until she was forced to retire due to health complications. She was an avid reader who enjoyed Stephen King books and crime mysteries. She loved her four cats dearly.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Chapel in Fulton with Dr. Kevin Clayton and Bro. Jay White officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include one brother, Jaime Wheeler (Christy) of Fulton; one sister, Debbie Gann (Phil) of Plantersville; three nephews, Jason Gann (Meagan), Drew Wheeler (Lindsey), and Matthew Wheeler; three aunts, Ida Sue Lowery (Boone), Paula Patrick, Margaret Lyons, Peggy Lyons, and Wanda Bowen; a special cousin who was like a sister, Becky Page (Gary); three special friends, Shelley McGuire, Lynn Wischover, and Mitzi Ellis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three uncles, Durby Lyons, Bill Lyons, and Major Bowen; two aunts, Nancy Lyons Davis and Mary Lou Banks.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home.
