Catherine C. Lupoi
“Loving wife, mother & sister”
Catherine “Cathy” C. (DellaCamera) Lupoi, of Watertown, entered into the gates of heaven in her husband's arms with her two daughters by her side, on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 after courageously fighting a battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of Costantino Lupoi of Watertown.
Cathy was born in Waterbury on January 24, 1968, daughter of the late Joseph C. DellaCamera and Loretta (Martino) DellaCamera of Oakville. Her father, Joseph, was the Chief Draftsman of Unisys in Waterbury, formally known as Sperry, for thirty-four years. Her mother, Loretta, worked as an assembler at Winchester Electronics for fourteen years. Growing up in Oakville, she attended South School, St. Mary Magdalen School ‘82, and Holy Cross High School ’86. After high school Cathy then attended Southern Connecticut State University, class of ‘90, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation.
Working at Valerie Manor in Torrington for twenty-four years as the Director of Recreation, Cathy was known for the “Festival of Trees” and twice-a-week happy hour. Cathy was then employed at Apple Rehab in Watertown, since 2015 as the Director of Therapeutic Recreation and Marketing. Through Apple Rehab, Cathy took great pride in organizing community events with the town on behalf of all Apple Residents such as the annual “American Classic Cruise Night” and Tree Lighting Ceremony. She formed an immense bond with the residents, their families, and everyone who worked and volunteered there.
Cathy’s love for the New York Yankees and other sports came from her father, as he took his daughters to numerous baseball games and the Saratoga Race Course. As a child, Cathy spent much time at Falls Ave. Package Store, owned by her Uncle and Aunt; Tony and Antionette Pelegano. Cathy was known to be a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Mary Magdalen Church. Her kindness and active involvement with the church, St. Mary Magdalen School and Holy Cross High School touched the lives of many, creating lifelong friendships; a friendship that never left her side, comforting and accompanying her during the most difficult days during her courageous battle of cancer. Her favorite saying: “We will never give up and never give in till the very end”.
Cathy was devoted and committed to caring for her mother and her family. Everyday, when Costantino would come home from work, the minute he would call for her name, he would always love to hear her say, “yes, I’m here!”. Cathy, every Sunday, would make the best Sunday Sauce with all the meats, cooking fresh pasta. While washing dishes, she would always enjoy looking out to her backyard from the window over her kitchen sink. Every other summer, Cathy would go with her husband to his birthplace in Calabria, to his house by the ocean. There they would enjoy going out dining, eating the local seafood, and taking rides in the countryside.
Cathy never missed one of her children’s sporting events, from the sidelines of Gabriela’s soccer and softball games to cheering with the parents at Sofia’s cheerleading competitions. Everyday, picking up her kids from school, she would always ask the question, “What did you do today?”. Cathy was always there for her two daughters, being their bestfriend. She liked to live the simple life, to enjoy the simple things of life and always did what mattered the most. Cathy gave Costantino the best thirty years of his life, always calling her “my girl”. This coming September 22nd would have been their 25th wedding anniversary.
Besides her husband Costantino and her mother Loretta, Cathy leaves behind her two beloved daughters, Sofia Rosa Lupoi and Gabriela Loretta Lupoi, both of Watertown; her sister Assunta DellaCamera Hickey of Watertown and her two daughters Angela and Olivia; her mother-in-law Rosa Barletta Lupoi of Glastonbury; her brother-in-law Domenico Lupoi of Cromwell and his wife Guliana and their children Jessica and Francesco; and sister-in-law Rita Fammartino of Wethersfield and her husband Domenico and their children Francesca and Vincent. She also leaves behind her cousins Franca Cipriano and her daughters Tracy, Julie, and Angela; Mary and Donna DellaCamera; and Libero DellaCamera and his wife Pierina and their children Phyliss and Anthony. Cathy is predeceased by her father, Joseph C. DellaCamera.
Arrangements: Due to the pandemic of the COVID-19 Virus, all funeral services for Cathy will be held private and at the convenience of the family. Cathy will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Chase Parkway Memorial, The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, has been entrusted with handling Cathy’s funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Cathy’s memory to:

I'm an accordion player who Cathy hired pretty often; from Valerie manor to Apple Watertown. Cathy was wonderful to me AND others all the time. She had a wonderful smile and engaging personality. I knew Cathy wasn't well the past several months but I thought she was on the road to recovery. God probably wanted to add to His great personnel up there. He sure did.
I would like to send my condolences to husband Constantino; you must be very smart - look at the wonderful woman you chose.
Also to daughters Sofia and Gabriela - your Mom was beautiful in and out - anybody could just tell she had her priorities right. Best of luck in all your future endeavors. God bless you.
Loretta, what a wonderful daughter you raised. You really instilled family values into her and it showed. I have a cousin Viola who has buried one of her children. She says it's the most difficult thing to do. I wish you the very best of whatever is coming your way in life.
Assunta, I hope you and your family find some way to fill that unfillable hole - marvelous sister and aunt.
I know I have not included all who loved Cathy - and I would like to offer (donate) (if social distancing allows in the future) my accordion playing to any family gathering you may choose. I'm just saying for your knowledge that I have a 150 song repertoire, so I have songs for many age groups. You can call the Watertown Apple recreation department for my phone number and info.
I will always remember Cathy Lupoi and thank her for how she treated me.

I am so glad I was able to work beside such an amazing individual and that she has left behind daughters to carry her legacy. May you rest in peace Cathy and thank you for touching so many lives here on earth.

Constantino, Sofia and Gabriela,
Sympathy and sorrow do not begin to describe the feelings I have for all of you right now. What I do know is I have never witnessed such courage, love and devotion in a family before in my life. Know that she took it all with her and she left it in all of you. She will always be with you. Cathy I will miss you, our work and soccer chats. You were the epitome of the word mother and set the bar for the true meaning of love. Rest easy now knowing there are so many people here who still will love and watch over your girls. You will forever be loved, remembered and missed.
With love,

To our friends that are like family,
Our hearts are broken for all of you. Cathy was a lifelong friend of Louise who she valued as another sister. Through your battle with cancer, you have showed your family and friends that nothing will tear you down.It was your strength and courage that carried you through. We will never forget all the fun memories we created together through the years. You were taken too soon from all of us to become another one of God's angels. Your positive spirits have touched the lives of many and will forever be in each of our hearts. We will always love and miss you dearly and we promise to always remain close to your family, may you rest in peace.
