Stubby was such a nice person. He was a great cook and loved to can those vegetables he grew. I never saw him be mean to anyone. I will remember him fondly and miss him greatly.

Stubby was my friend. Honorably Discharge from the reserves, Cecil was a man you could count on. He loved his children and grandchildren. And would help anyone with out hesitation. You will be missed my friend. Michael L. Brown

Cecil "Stubby"'s Obituary

Duffield, VA – Cecil “Stubby” Cobb, Jr. – 65

Cecil “Stubby” Cobb, Jr., 65 of Duffield, VA passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at his residence.  Mr. Cobb was a coalminer for Westmoreland and a member of the United Mine Workers Union.  He was an avid vegetable gardener and cook. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Ulice Cobb, Sr. and Vivian Jones Cobb. 

Mr. Cobb is survived by his daughter, Michele Ewing and husband Barry; grandchildren, Cody Leonard and Kendra Leonard; sister, Joyce C. Starnes; niece, Danielle Dye and husband Chance; step grandchildren, Ashley and Dalton Ewing, Skylar Collins; step great grandchildren, Journey Stapleton and Ryker Collins; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5 -7 PM Sunday, November 10, 2019 at Colonial Funeral Home.  A Celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 PM with Pastor Bill Lafollette officiating.  Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Pease, Cody Leonard, Barry Ewing, Dalton Ewing, Chance Dye, Michael Leonard, Keith Roach and Robert Starnes. 

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colonial Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
