Cecilia K. Chi, of Lynn, formerly of Somerville, MA passed away on January 29th, 2024. She was 71 years old.
Born in Mamfe and originally from Bali, Cameroon, she was the third child and beloved daughter of Raphael Ndansi Chi and Maria Manyi Chubb. She would join her brother, Ni Gegah, emigrating to France before finally moving to New Jersey in August 1977 to pursue her undergraduate degree at Montclair State University. Later she would transfer to Northeastern University, complete her degree in Finance, and subsequently earn her master’s in business administration from UMass Lowell.
After settling in Somerville, MA with her husband, Adjatay Thomas Nyadjroh, Cecilia would spend the majority of her career working as an administrator at Cambridge Friends School and as a Senior Accounts Manager at Fleet Bank Boston.
A devout Catholic, she was a mother to many within her close-knit Cameroonian community. The love, affection, warmth, and generosity she had for her own children, Adjatay Sewa Ngomba and Adjatay Yondo Golden, she extended to those well beyond her immediate family. Her loss has been felt deeply by many in the U.S. and abroad.
She was predeceased by her father in 1981, her mother in 1958, her elder sister Agnes Njingo in 1978, brothers Nkom Anthony Gegah Gwankwangbe and Lobah Peter Nchibinjong in 1997 and 2005 respectively and her junior sister Immaculate Ngamdap Chi in 2001.
