Thoughts of my cousins and tio!!! Sending prayers, hugs and peace! RIP tia!!!! I loved her story telling skills along with cousin's story telling skills!!! She was a gift to me every time I was around her!!!! Hugs to all the Resende'z!!!!!

My deepest condolences to Ramiro and all of the Resendez family. May the lord comfort you and your family in this difficult time. I have fond memories of her as a very beautiful woman with an amazing smile and heart. May she RIP.

Cecilia's Obituary

Cecilia Zavala Resendez, 89, entered the Lord’s heavenly kingdom peacefully on Saturday afternoon, August 16, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family in Harlingen, Texas.

Cecilia was born on November 23, 1935, in Mexico to Meliton Zavala and Felicitas Perez. 

Lifetime resident of Harlingen, Cecilia then met and married her beloved husband of 69 years, Erasmo Resendez, where they raised their family together. Cecilia was employed at Levi’s Strauss for many years, and then was the office manager for her husband, where together they owned & operated Resendez Welding. She was a very kind, patient, generous, and loving person who will be missed dearly by all her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Meliton Zavala and Felicitas Perez; one great granddaughter, Camilla Grace Ashton; brothers and sisters, Tomasa Zavala, Aaron Zavala, Crisogono Zavala, Victoria Canales, Eleuteria Briggs, Petra Delgado, Ignacio Zavala.

Cecilia leaves behind her loving husband of 69 years, Erasmo Resendez; children, Ramiro Resendez (Sylvia), Jaime Resendez (Irma); daughter, Mary Castillo (Paul); eight grandchildren, Ashley Soto, Amanda Rodriguez, Alyssa Ashton, Eric Resendez, Marcus Resendez, Philip Resendez, Kristen Resendez, Jaime Aparicio; ten great grandchildren; very special sister-in-law, Hilda Resendez Rivas, whom she raised since she was 12 years old.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 3:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. with a Prayer of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Funeral Chapel of the Holy Spirit.

A Funeral Mass of Christian burial is scheduled to be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in La Feria, Texas.

Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Eric Resendez, Marcus Resendez, Philip Resendez, Rey Soto, Adrian Rodriguez, Chris Ashton, Jaime Aparicio, and Alex Martinez.
