Cephas Horne, age 83, of Auburn Hills, Michigan, transitioned peacefully on November 11, 2025. He was born on December 7, 1941, in Savannah, Georgia, to the late Bishop Cleveland and Kathaleen Horne.
Cephas grew up in a large, loving family and developed a strong work ethic at an early age. After relocating to Michigan in 1960, he began his career with Pontiac Motors Division and later became one of the first African American Journeymen in the Skilled Trades, retiring as a Millwright in 2005.
In 1966, Cephas married the love of his life, Marydell Singleton, and together they raised a beautiful family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished time with his family—especially his grandchildren, Gabriel and Sydney Banks and Ethan Turner.
Cephas accepted Christ early in life and later became a member of Eastside Church of God. He was also an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with friends, family, and fellow amateurs.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Marydell; daughters, Rhonda, Kelli (Lorenzo), Sarah “Dana” (Stephen), Rene (Curtis), and Trenna; siblings, Paul Horne and Minister Katha Lee James; grandchildren, Gabriel and Sydney Banks, Ethan Turner, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who adored him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings; nephew, Paul Davenport; great-niece, Dorese Clark; and son-in-law, Robert James.
He will lie in repose on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Cobb's Funeral Home 151 Orchard Lake Road, Pontiac, Michigan, from 12:00pm - 6:00pm.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Eastside Church of God 343 Irwin St. Pontiac, Michigan. Family hour will begin at 10:30am and the service will promptly start at 11:00am. Interment will follow immediately after the service, at Perry Mount Park Cemetery, Pontiac, Michigan.
