Chad's Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Chad Durkiewicz announce his passing on March 23, 2026 at his apartment in Mesa, Arizona. He was born June 3, 1993 in Mesa, Arizona, the second of four boys, a son of Anne and Dan Durkiewicz.

Chad was a proud Arizona native who loved his home state deeply. In a lot of ways, Arizona was a relflection of him. A place that could give you searing heat and mountain and mountain snow, open desert and quiet forest, all in the same state. Chad was like that too, fierce and tender, stubborn and generous, always more than you expected. He lived with small fiber neuropathy, which caused him chronic pain throughout his life, and he faced it with quiet strength. He found comfort and escape in the state he loved, its sunsets, its open spaces, and the people around him.

A devoted Sun Devil and ASU graduate, Chad loved his Arizona teams the way most people love family. The Suns, Cardinals, Diamondbacks and Coyotes were his, and he wore that pride loudly and without apology.

Chad cared deeply about the world around him. He was passionate about politics, healthcare, and social causes, and he stood up for people who didn't always have someone in their corner. He was not the kind of person who stayed quiet when something was wrong.

Chad is survived by his parents, Anne and Dan; his brothers Casey (Kalynn), Andrew (Pamela), and Hayden (Karsen); and his siblings Scott and Janessa. He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply. He was truly one of a kind, and those who knew him will carry his memory always.

The family kindly accepts donations in Chad's memory to assist with his celebration of life. Any contribution, no matter the size, is deeply appreciated. Donations can be sent via Venmo at @ChadDurkiewiczFuneralFund.
