Charlene Thweatt DeNure, 81, of Manchester, GA passed away April 4, 2018 at Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange, GA. A memorial service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Victory Temple, Manchester. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 pm, Friday at the DeNure home located at 601 Mayes Way, Manchester, GA 31816.
Ms. DeNure was born November 20, 1936 in Dadeville, AL, the daughter of William N. Thweatt and Aldean Clanton Thweatt. She worked at Playtex International in Manchester for 22 years until the plant closed. Ms. DeNure then attended Troup Technical School in LaGrange where she studied accounting and earned all A’s. She then went to work for the city of Manchester as an assistant purchasing agent retiring after 15 years. Ms. DeNure loved to grow flowers and loved her family. She was an avid quilter and reader. She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father, Fletcher Vines; two daughters, Evelyn Dean DeNure and Kelley DeNure Prince; one brother, William “Bill” Thweatt; one sister, Camilla Reames and a son-in-law, David Howard.
Survivors include her children, John David DeNure, R. Phillip (Donna) DeNure, Jr. and Donna D. Howard, all of Manchester; Grandchildren, Chris (Amanda) DeNure of Waverly Hall, Shannon (Anna) DeNure of Woodbury, Mellissa Funderburk of Manchester, Lucas (Michelle) Prince of Warm Springs, Chase Howard of Manchester and Caty D. (Kenneth) Modlin of West Point; Great Grandchildren, Colson, Scarlett, Chyenne, Kyle, Caringtyn, Cody, Cason, Kyrie, Emma Lynn and Alyssa; sisters, Joy T. Jones of Jax, FL. and Jane T. Johnston of Tallassee, AL.; sister in law, Emma Jean Thweatt of Dadeville, AL.
