Mr. Abbate was one of my professors when I attended HVCC in the Criminal Justice program, in 1972 and 1973. I am surprised to read that he was new to the faculty then, as he came across as a seasoned professor! I recall him being very knowledgeable and approachable, as an instructor and mentor, and as a positive influence on my over 35 years in municipal law enforcement. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
