Obituary

CHARLES's Obituary

            Charles Richard Blanford, 92, of Henderson, Kentucky, passed away Monday, March 9, 2026, at his home.

            He was born on May 20, 1933, in Henderson, Kentucky, to the late Richard Jerome and Lorene LaRue Blanford.  Charles was a 1951 graduate of Holy Name High School and a 1955 graduate of Bellarmine College.  He spent his adult life teaching at various high schools and the Adult Learning Center at Henderson Community College.  Charles devoted his life to helping others pursue education.  He was an avid reader and gardener.  Charles was a lifelong member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.

            In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death grandparents, Charles and Carrie LaRue and Allen Blanford; five brothers, Kenneth Blanford, James “Jady” Blanford, Jerry Blanford, Johnny Blanford, and Jody Blanford; one sister, Martha “Motts” Hall.

            Survivors include three sisters, Faye Pippin of Geneva, Kentucky, Virginia “Ginny” Sigler of Henderson, Kentucky, and Linda McCallister and her husband, Lloyd, of Tell City, Indiana; one brother, George Blanford of Smith Mills, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews.

            Services will be at noon Friday, March 13, 2026, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.  Father Richard Meredith will officiate.  Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery.

            Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2026, and until 11 a.m. Friday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home where prayers will be said at 6 p.m. Thursday.

            Contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Hospice or Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church.

            Pallbearers will be family.
